Fencing! | Video Games, Cookies, and Pie

Tomorrow I start realizing a dream I?ve had since I was 5 years old. I?m going to learn to fence.

Fencing is the only sport (other than the extreme sort that ruined my joints) that I?ve really been interested in. Unfortunately, I?ve always just missed my opportunities to learn. In grade school, I could have enrolled in the local school of the arts. Students were allowed to take a sport rather than a traditional P.E. course, and one of those sports was Fencing.

My family moved before I could apply. In high school, I had another opportunity to learn but couldn?t scrounge up the application fee on my own?.

But everything changes tomorrow. My university?s HPER building houses several student-run sports clubs, and for a mere $5 I can learn how to fence and potentially compete! It?s a dream come true, and will fit in nicely with my new-found dedication to fitness and generally being healthier.

Since I hurt myself skating/kicking people/doing generally stupid things, I?ve gained quite a bit of weight. My knees hurt me, and I was really depressed about not being able to do the things I used to. That depression turned into me gaining weight slowly but surely. I still ate like I had when I was active, and that just made matters worse.

Since then I?ve paired down my servings and what I?m eating, but losing this weight is a slow process. My family is so skilled in weight gain?.

I?m looking at tomorrow as a new start. I?ll be learning something I love and hopefully getting healthier because of it.

Eeeeeeee! ?so excited!

I'm a fledgling video game journalist and aspiring chef. Most of the time I'm a college student.
