American Airlines continues to fight union on costs

American Airlines

American Airlines has renewed efforts to have its collective bargaining agreement voided with the Allied Pilots Association.

AMR Corp., the parent company of American Airlines, renewed its call to void its collective bargaining agreement with the Allied Pilots Association, Reuters reported.

The push comes two days after U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane in Manhattan rejected an earlier plan by the airline holding company to save more than $1 billion in labor costs, including $315 million targeted at union members. The company is asking the court to void its prior labor agreement as part of its plan to emerge from bankruptcy.

Fort Worth-based AMR Corp. (Pink Sheets: AAMRQ), the parent company of American Airlines, filed for bankruptcy last November. American is one of the leading airlines that flies out of San Antonio International Airport.
